Freezin' For a Reason! Polar Bear Plunge

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Maple Grove's Inaugural Plunge 2008!

Last year, the Maple Grove Ambassadors participated for the first time in the Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota. Our experience was so rewarding, that we've initiated the first ever Polar Bear Plunge site in Maple Grove!

We are currently working with members from the Special Olympics, and local fire and police departments to make this one of the top first-year plunge sites! The event will be held on Saturday, March 8th. Registration begins at 10:00 AM at the Lookout with the plunge beginning at 1:00 PM at Weaver Lake Park. Pre-registration will take place at J. Cousineau's on Thursday, March 6th from 6:00?8:00 PM.

The Polar Bear Plunge (presented by Minnesota Law Enforcement to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota and part of the year-round fundraising of the Law Enforcement Torch Run) is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to support Special Olympics athletes by jumping into frigid waters of Weaver Lake. The event will be announced by KDWB's DJ Steve-O.

We?re looking for your help to promote the plunge and help increase the number of participants and donations. Please visit www.specialolympicsmn.org today to register your team, or to make a donation to a plunger. Anyone unable to make a splash can still show support make a pledge, or come out and be a spectator! We're looking for your support in any capacity! Business sponsors are also needed. Please email info@maplegroveambassadors for more details. Help put the Maple Grove plunge the top!
