Former Maple Grove Ambassador Becky Ringen (2001) wins the title of Miss Minnesota International.

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

Rebecca Ringen is the reigning Miss Minnesota International. She was crowned on March 12th in St. Cloud. Minnesota, where she competed with other county/city title holders from across the state.

Ringen is spending her year in partnership with Home Free, The Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women and the National Coalition against Domestic Violence to promote her platform Domestic Violence: Love Should not Hurt. Through education and empowerment she is working to create a community where violence is no longer tolerated.

The honoring title of Miss Minnesota International has brought Rebecca great opportunities to visit schools, write a children's book about domestic violence, found Kids Kount and Kids Day Minnesota programs, implement empowerment classes for survivors, and set up a scholarship fund for victims of domestic violence. When her title of Miss Minnesota expires in March, her passion and commitment to the cause will not. Rebecca will remain dedicated to helping others realize a brighter violence-free life.

Rebecca resides in Maple Grove with her family and is a graduate of Osseo Senior High School. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Bethany Lutheran College where she majored in communication and minored in public health communication. She is currently attending Bethel University and will graduate in December of 2007 with a Masters in Organizational Leadership. Ringen also enjoys being a District 279 Adapted soccer and softball coach, a senior youth leader, and a member of a 117 person immediate family.
