An Evening of Fashion and Fun

The Maple Grove Park and Recreation and the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes provided an informational and special style show of Back-to-School fashions. Tanya Hilger, Youth Outreach Coordinator partnered with Jennie Zafft, Marketing Director of the Shoppes, to provide an alternative program to involve the community in a new way on August 16. James Beckius, intern with Park and Rec and jack-of-all-trades, aided in making the event run smoothly.

Attendees were greeted by the 2006 Maple Grove Ambassadors, Korbin Kvaas, Stephanie Plant and Gillian Key. The evening was emceed by Miss Minnesota International Becky Ringen. Over 50 volunteer models strutted on the runway at the Community Center modeling popular clothing from several apparel and specialty Maple Grove stores. Also modeling were the three Maple Grove Days duct tape outfit winners in their personally designed creations.

Ulta coordinated the make-up and hair for the models and gave a make-up demonstration during the show. The audience was also entertained with door prize drawings and accessory consultation by Francesca's Collections.

Prior to the fashion show attendees enjoyed food and beverages donated by Qdoba and Coke. Also on hand was Radiance Medspa offering complimentary make-up applications and The Caring Tree charity opportunities.

With over 200 attending, Hilger and Zafft consider this first annual show a success.
