Who is eligible to be a Maple Grove Ambassador?
Live or work in Maple Grove or Osseo.
Entering their high school junior year in 2024 or graduated from any Maple Grove and Osseo area high school or attending post secondary education, up to age 21.

Must I provide my own sponsor?
NO. Candidates are welcome to find their own sponsor but for those who do not have a sponsor, we will assist in securing one for you. Many local sponsors are on hand each year and are excited to connect with a candidate. The cost to sponsor is $350.
Who is in charge of selecting the three new Ambassadors?
An independent Selection Team is appointed. They will determine the team of three Candidates who would be the right fit for the Ambassador role. Their decision is strictly of their own choosing, with no influence from the MGAP Committee, Directors or current Ambassadors. Their selection is based on information provided in the candidate applications and as witnessed during all judged events.
What is the selection team looking for?
The new Ambassadors will be selected based on overall impression including communication skills, sincerity, poise, a warm and friendly personality, and community and school involvement. We are looking for a role model and strong representative for our wonderful city.
Does this program have a talent or swimsuit competition?
NO. This is not a pageant and does not have a talent nor swimsuit competition.
Can a candidate be married?
NO. Our program is open to candidates who have never been married nor have had a marriage annulled, are not pregnant nor have children. Upon accepting the title, if chosen, the Ambassador agrees that she will not marry during her year of service. These rules are in conjunction with the Minneapolis Aquatennial Ambassador Organization rules.
Will I be disqualified if I miss a scheduled candidate event?
NO. 100% participation is not expected as we do make exceptions for missed appearances for legitimate reasons, as long as we know in advance. If you miss an event, however, you may be missing a valuable opportunity for the Selection Team to observe you.
If I am chosen as one of the three Maple Grove Ambassadors, how much time is required?
Maple Grove Ambassadors serve for one year. Our busiest season is the summer months, May - August, attending local events and traveling to other city festivals. Ambassadors participate throughout the year assisting at events with ISD 279 fundraisers, Breakfast with Santa, MG Triathlon and TC Motion runs, Polar Plunge, partnering with Rotary, Lions, local law enforcement and special evenings at sport Sparkle Nights and Winter Carnival.

Can I still be chosen as a Maple Grove Ambassador if I am going away to college?
YES. Most appearances are scheduled during the summer months. Being a scholarship program, we work around college schedules during the year and are happy to support your collegiate aspirations and activities.
What do I receive if I become an Ambassador?
Being an Ambassador is a very unique and rewarding opportunity. You will receive an educational scholarship of $3,000 at the end of your Ambassadorship upon receipt of a fee statement from the school of choice. You will also receive a wardrobe you will wear to all Ambassador events, and yours to keep when your year is complete.
How will my family be involved if I become a Maple Grove Ambassador?
Families play a large role during the Ambassador's year. They are involved with transportation, chaperoning, fundraising, and assisting with setting up and/or taking down of "The Dream of Maple Grove" float at parades.
What will I gain by participating in the Maple Grove Ambassador Program?
You will enrich your personal and professional skills including poise, presentation and public speaking skills and a greater confidence in yourself. This experience is a stepping-stone to a future professional career.
